Winner of seven Tony awards including Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book of a Musical! Winner of eight Drama Desk awards including Outstanding Music and Lyrics! Mark Twain's timeless classic sweeps us down the mighty Mississippi as the irrepressible Huck Finn helps his friend Jim, a slave, escape to freedom at the mouth of the Ohio River. Their adventures along the way are hilarious, suspenseful and heartwarming, bringing to life your favorite characters from the novel-the Widow Douglas and her stern sister, Miss Watson; the uproarious King and Duke, who may or may not be as harmless as they seem; Huck's partner in crime, Tom Sawyer, and their rowdy gang of pals; Huck's drunken father, the sinister Pap Finn; the lovely Mary Jane Wilkes and her trusting family. Propelled by an award winning score from Roger Miller, the king of country music, this jaunty journey provides a brilliantly theatrical celebration of pure Americana.

When a beautiful young girl is found on the walk outside the Vandenburgh home, she is carried inside and when she recovers consciousness, she is suffering, of course, from a complete loss of memory. Identification inside her purse reveals only that her name is Spring Overtone. That black-hearted villain, Talbot Twillingham, takes one glance at our chaste young heroine and decides that she will be chased as well as chaste. But he reckons without the presence of our noble hero, Casper Vandenburgh. Of course Spring is rescued in the nick of time by Casper, in a final scene of howling hilarity - an old-fashioned 1890's melodrama. |

Now one of the most performed shows in America, "Seussical" is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty ("Ragtime," "Once On This Island") have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie, and a little kid with a bigimagination--Jojo. "Oh, the Thinks You Can Think" captures the show's spirit of imagination, as the colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of
the Whos.
The story centers around Horton the Elephant, who finds himself faced with a double challenge--not only must he protect his tiny friend Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him, the only one who recognizes "his kind and his powerful heart." Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant, in a story that makes you laugh and cry.

The Lambda Players are pleased to present a special Sacramento
engagement of SIX WOMEN WITH BRAIN DEATH, or Expiring Minds Want to Know, as a tribute to Jackie Schultz, the former producer and owner of The Studio Theatre. SIX WOMEN WITH BRAIN was the longest running musical in Sacramento theatre history, playing at the Studio Theatre from 1996 to 2006. This special engagement is a tribute to the Studio Theatre's producer/director Jackie Schultz. The Lambda Players are also kicking off their capital campaign to make the Studio Theatre their permanent home.
SIX WOMEN is a fast-paced, take-no-prisoners satire of life and pop culture. It is a wild and very left-of-center view of the world from an entirely feminine standpoint. In a series of bizarre but hysterical songs
and sketches, the authors explore TV soap operas, "genuine press-on nails," Barbie and Ken's secret fantasy life, divas, what "is" and "is not" feminine and other topics plus with an unforgettable detour through a forest where Bambi meets Rambo. Its music is infectious and the show is the longest running musical in Sacramento theatre history.
Producer Schultz's very public 12 year battle with severe Chronic Fatigue Syndrome has taken a serious turn in the last year. As a tribute to her long career in Sacramento regional theatre and her many, many
contributions not only to the community but also to the Lambda Players,
the Lambda Players are now honored to bring SIX WOMEN to the stage under the direction of Kitty Czarnecki. Jackie's theater dream will continue with Lambda Players at the helm of the Studio Theatre.

| plot summary |
Eleanor Fairchild, a teenage outcast, lives in a fantasy world built around her favorite science fiction comic books (Super Hero Girl). Her mother, convinced her daughter would be a normal teenage girl if she were not obsessed with comics, convinces Eleanor to sell her books. Right before Eleanor relinguishes her beloved comic books she is kidnapped by the evil Shak Graa and transported to Innerspace. Shak Graa is intent on sacrificing Eleanor so he can rule the world. Starmites, led by the handsome and charming Space Punk, rescue Eleanor and inform her that she is pre-ordained to save the universe from destruction (Don't Be Afraid of the Dark). Eleanor and the Starmites set off on an adventure to find "The Cruelty," a powerful musical instrument, which they must find before it falls into the hands of Shak Graa.
In Shreikwood Forest Banshees, a band of cruel, flesh eating women, kidnap Eleanor and the 'Mites. The Banshees take their hostages to Diva, the manipulative Queen of the Banshees (Diva). It doesn't take long for Diva to realize her hostages are worth more alive than dead and her and the Banshees joins forces with Eleanor and the Starmites to save the universe from Shak Graa (Reach Right Down). |

This very funny play combines the stories of The Three Little Pigs, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, and Goldilocks and the Three Bears into a madcap jumble."The Voice" tries its best to narrate the changing stories as stage hands desperately try to juggle sets to keep the stories straight. The three trios join forces to rewrite their stories, ridding themselves of their respective villains by exchanging them. In the
process the audience is inspired to conquer their fears by taking control of their own lives.

One of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies, The Taming of the Shrew bursts with disguise, deception and devilment. Shakespeare gives us the improbable courtship of the fiery-tongued Katherine by the arrogant Petruchio. Shakespeare considers the institution of marriage, the rifts between men and women, and the rough journey toward love.

The True Story of the Big Bad Wolf
"There has obviously been some kind of mistake," insists the Wolf from the pig penitentiary where he's doing time for his alleged crimes. Here is the "real" story of the three little pigs whose houses are huffed and puffed to smithereens - but from the wolf's perspective.
This poor, much maligned wolf, has gotten a bad rap. He just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, with a sneezy cold, innocently trying to borrow a cup of sugar to make his granny a cake. Is it his fault those ham dinners--rather, pigs- build such flimsy homes?
Lois, a budding news reporter sets out to get the real scoop. She visits the Wolf in the "Pig Pen" where he spins his tail . . . I mean tale - "I was framed," he concludes mournfully.
This hilarious original musical comedy written and directed by Ray Fisher gives us a contemporary new slant on a well loved story.
