Membership in the League of Sacramento Theatres is important. We want to take a moment to share with you some of the things we've accomplished in the past few years.
Starting as a round table discussion and sponsored by California Musical Theatre (Broadway Sacramento, The Cosmopolitan Cabaret, and Music Circus), the League has grown to over 30 theatre companies and individual artists. With a charter to unite, strengthen and advance area theatre, we have facilitated discussions and begun programs in many areas of mutual interest.
Area artists have a place to discuss artistic issues, producers can talk to each other about problems they confront and resources can be identified, cooperation achieved, support provided.
Priority programming includes:
» E-bulletin updates
» Artistic programming - workshops / seminars / discussions / field trips
» Roundtables
» Fundraising
» Membership/Web presence
» Arts advocacy - visibility & programming
We are continuing our work on our See A Play campaign, SARTA partnership activities, membership meeting programming and opportunities, calendar coordination, group advertising and group warehousing - personnel, costumes, set pieces, props.
Partnership with the Sacramento Bee and SacTicket.com has led to the Onstage Ticket Club and the Onstage Newsletter which reaches 26,000 every week. New programming includes Wells Fargo sponsorship for advertising and Hot Tickets. Sacramento News and Review has broadened its coverage of theatre and offers League members discount advertising. Service organizations such as SMAC, Arts and Business Council and the California Arts Council have come to us to offer support to our members and our organization.
Through the free exchange of ideas and concerns, the theatre community has a chance to tackle the issues that are unique to our industry, a chance to raise our visibility as an economic force in the community and a chance to speak out as one voice. We've come so far in such a short time. Yet the best ideas are the ones we haven't had yet. They are your ideas. The League is the place to make them happen.
We invite you to share your voice. Share your time and talent. Make a difference for now and for the future.
If you are presently not a member, ask someone who is about the benefits, the thoughtful discussions, the sharing of resources, and about feeling connected to your art and the arts community. Be a part of the League of Sacramento Theatres.
